Pure tone audiometry

Puretone audiometry is the primary hearing test used to identify an individual’s hearing threshold levels that is the smallest sound an individual can hear at a given frequency, allowing for the determination of the degree, type, and configuration of a hearing loss and thus providing a foundation for diagnosis and management. Because it is based on patient’s responses to pure tone stimuli, pure-tone audiometry is a subjective, behavioral measurement of a hearing threshold.
